Whilst imagining a setting for my latest novel (currently at outline stage) I came across an old website that had essentially done it for me. Rather than plagiarise – relatively safe in the knowledge that person would probably not realise it – I tracked him down and asked if I might use his ideas as a steeping point for my own. An hour later, he had replied and gave me unequivocal permission. People like him should be given awards. (You know who you are, sir, and thank you again.)
